The mission of the Healthy Hearts Foundation is to raise awareness for the prevention and treatment of heart disease and to promote heart healthy lifestyles across the lifespan within our community. This is accomplished by raising funds that are used for many purposes including the purchase of Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) that treat sudden cardiac death. These devices are placed within strategic non-profit locations within the community. In addition, we have supported the cardiac rehabilitation program at Grand View Hospital for many years in the purchase of new exercise equipment. Funds have also been distributed to local elementary schools through our school competition to purchase fitness equipment and/or heart health teaching materials. A new initiative of the foundation is to support cardiac patients financially with the purchase of their cardiac medications and to assist with the costs of cardiac rehabilitation following a cardiac event.
